Friday Fact: How does LLS help blood cancer patients?

Print
Did you know that every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer? Approximately every ten minutes, someone dies from it.

My cousin David was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in September 2012. In December 2014, he died from it.

These facts are discouraging, but LLS continues to invest billions of dollars into blood cancer research. In fiscal year 2014, LLS invested $79.8 million into research and supported more than 350 research projects around the world. Out of that $79.8 million, AML research projects received $21.1 million.

More good news: When you make a donation to LLS, 78% of every dollar goes to cancer research, patient services, and education.

Join me in the fight against blood cancer. Make a donation. Support my cause. Cheer me on at the Marine Corps Marathon. Together, we can make a difference.
