It’s been a very busy summer, and it’s hard to believe that Labor Day has already come and gone. August was filled with lots of success, and a bit of a disappointment, but let’s talk about the positive first!
Our charity bus trip to Atlantic City was a huge success! We raised more than $500 through ticket sales and a 50/50 raffle. Our guests enjoyed taking advantage of all Atlantic City had to offer: the boardwalk, outlet shopping, dancing, dining, and of course, testing their luck at Caesar’s Casino. We’ll make this an annual event, that’s for sure!
Michael’s been running all summer and dominating the 5K circuit, and he completed his 14th 5K on Sunday—the day before his 40th birthday! Way to go, Michael!!
On the flipside, training for me has come to a halt. I’ve endured an injury that prevents me from competing in the Marine Corps Marathon this year. Last week, I formally bowed out from the race based on two doctors’ recommendations. Here’s the positive news: I’ll be able to run again. Right now I’m focused on strength training, and by November, I should be able to start running again. This means spring races are in my future! More good news: all of the generous donations I received will be transferred to another Leukemia & Lymphoma Society-sponsored race!

If you live in the Washington, D.C., area, join me at EPIC for a juicy yoga practice with my favorite teacher, Dr. Ariele Foster, on October 11. For our New Jersey supporters, cousin Lori is organizing a comedy show fundraiser. Details are still in the works, but we’ve secured a venue in South Jersey for November 21. Stay tuned for more info.
