On October 11, EPIC DC (my local yoga studio) donated space for me to hold a yoga class fundraiser to benefit LLS and Team Do It For David. By the picture below, it’s no surprise that I was absolutely overwhelmed by the love and support from friends, family, and the local yoga community.
One of my favorite yoga teachers, Ariele Foster of Sacred Source Yoga, led a 90-minute practice to live drumming by local musician Scott Manley. Twenty-four yogis came together to send love, hope, and positivity to those battling blood cancer. The energy in the room was real and powerful.
In addition to a beautiful, sweaty practice, yogis also enjoyed free snacks courtesy of Health Warrior and LARABAR. Neighboring business JRINK offered free cold-pressed juice samples and discounted merchandise. Truth be told, I bought a six-pack of juices yesterday and completely annihilated “Sweeten Me Up” earlier today!
In total, the event raised $411, including two donations from yogis that could not attend. To date, I’ve raised more than $2,500. With help from my brother and our friends and family back in New Jersey, we’ve surpassed $4,000! [Doing the Happy Dance right now.]
Thanks to everyone who helped make this event a success! None of this would have been possible without each and every one of you. Let’s keep beating blood cancer one mile (or one down dog) at a time!
